Entry fees

A fee of $120 incl GST is payable for each entry submitted.
Entries should be submitted by 5.00pm on 20th August.

Late entries attract an additional fee of $50, i.e. $170 and can be submitted no later than 5.00pm on 27th August.

Category Information

There are eight (8) categories, two (2) of which are for individuals and five (6) for groups/organisations. 

The winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Business Events award is selected by the BEIA Board and does not require an entry submission.  A shortlist of potential recipients is developed by the BEIA CEO and wider BEIA team based on individuals within the industry who have made a very real and significant contribution to New Zealand’s business event industry.

All other entries will be reviewed by a judging panel of industry experts.

Some awards can be entered by the potential recipient, while others require a nomination from a third party.

Supporting Documents

Some supporting material is encouraged and can be submitted to support any/all of the criteria for each award. This material should be supplementary to the entry.

Entrants may provide the following items as supporting material:

  • Up to three images (high resolution, with photo credits in the file name if applicable)

  • Up to two videos (link to video to be provided, total viewing time to not exceed three (3) minutes)

  • Any three of the following:

    • Training and development records (single document, up to four pages)

    • Copies of media coverage (single document, up to four pages)

    • Media evaluation (single document, up to four pages)

    • Client references or testimonials (single document, up to two pages)

    • Website analytics and social sharing (single document, up to four pages)

    • Post-event report (single document, up to four pages)

    • Marketing materials (single document, up to four pages)

Outstanding Contribution to Business Events Award

Awarded by BEIA to an individual who has made a very real and significant contribution to New Zealand’s business events industry.

There are no entry submissions for this Award.

Emerging Business Events Professional Award

Awarded to a professional who has worked in the industry (domestic or global) for five (5) years or less.

This individual must be nominated by another person and be endorsed by two (2) referees who will give their expert opinion on the impact the nominee has had in the industry.

The individual should demonstrate promise, leadership skills, an exceptional work ethic, a strong commitment to their own personal growth and a passion for the world of business events.

Business Events Legacy Impact Award

Awarded to a group which can comprise individuals, companies and organisations or a mix of any of those (“a group”) or a company or an organisation (“organisation”) that has successfully delivered, as part of a business event, a project which has had a profound and transformative impact. This impact could be environmental, social, educational, political or sectoral. 

The project must have been implemented between July 2024 and June 2025 or, if the legacy is intended to span a longer period, then a description of that ongoing plan must be included in the submission.

Best Marketing Award

Awarded to a group or organisation that has successfully delivered a marketing campaign or activity related to business events.

The award recognises the excellence and outstanding achievements of a group/organisation in their effort to market their destination or product/service. Entries can range from full-scale campaigns and branding exercises to individual promotions.

The project must have been delivered between July 2024 and June 2025.

Excellence in Environmental Sustainability Award

Awarded to a group or organisation that has successfully delivered an event, campaign or activation in the business events sector, that has demonstrated significant reduction in the environmental impact of one or more events.

The project must have been delivered between July 2024 and June 2025.

Innovation Award

Awarded to a group or organisation that has introduced an innovative initiative e.g. process, product or business model which adds significant value to the business events industry. This innovation may pertain to a specific event or span across all events in which the group/organisation is involved.

The innovation must have been delivered between July 2024 and June 2025, or released earlier but modified and implemented as part of an event or events between July 2024 and June 2025.

An innovation is defined as the process of bringing about new ideas, methods, products, services, or solutions that have a significant positive impact and value.

Outstanding Business Events Partner Award

Awarded to a group or organisation that exemplifies genuine partnership and collaboration, e.g. a PCO working with a bureau and/or supplier, a bureau and a member, a client and a venue.

Submissions should display positive collaboration, notable impact on the project, stakeholders and customer experience and have the potential for a lasting impact through continued collaboration.

The collaboration can apply to one event or an ongoing partnership.

The project must have been delivered between July 2024 and June 2025.

    5. Submit your entry and make payment. Before 20th August, entries are $120 including GST. Late entries incur an additional fee of $50 including GST and MUST be received before 27th August.

  • Yes, the same event may be entered for more than one category provided it is eligible for each category you are entering.

  • The word limits will be strictly enforced so please adhere to them. If your submission runs over the specified word counts, only the first words within the award limit will be judged.

  • AI tools can be a great resource to help craft your submission, but please ensure your entry is thoroughly reviewed and refined so it accurately reflects the full scope of your event.  Judges will prefer clear, authentic storytelling over AI-generated word-salad!

  • Please ensure you read the questions properly and give the information requested. If you feel there is relevant additional information to include, utilise any spare word count in the opening summary. Please clearly demonstrate success by stating how objectives were achieved and include evidence to support the claims you make within the application.

  • If you can’t submit your entry by the standard entry cut-off of 5.00pm on 20 August, you can submit a late entry up until 5.00pm on 27 August. Late entries incur an additional fee of $50+GST per entry. You do not need to make prior arrangements for a late entry, the fee will automatically be added to your entry fee if you make your submission within the late entry period.

  • Each entry will be scored by a minimum of 6 judges selected from all industries involved. Following the initial round of scoring, entries will be ratified by the Head of Judges and finalists announced. The head of each judging panel and the Head of Judges will then review the finalists to select the winner.

  • Finalists will be announced on 15 October. Winners will be announced at the BEIA Awards Gala Dinner to be held at Cordis Auckland on 26 November.
